Whether you are a novice investor or a professional trader, PennTrade offers a comprehensive suite of tools to meet your investment needs.
Interest on Cash Balances
As a benefit to our customers, PennTrade pays interest on credit balances. Simple interest is calculated on the entire daily balance and is credited to the account monthly. Cash and credit balances in your cash account can be automatically swept into a money market account.
Free Check Writing
In addition to money market accounts, PennTrade offers free check writing. A $5000 initial balance is required to receive checking priviledges.
No Fee Dividend Reinvestment
You can choose to have your dividends reinvested into common stock or have dividend checks sent monthly.
Written Confirmations
Confirmations are mailed to you via first class mail on the business day following a transaction.
Additional Account Protection
Both Pennaluna and National Financial Services, LLC -- the NYSE member that clears for us and carries PennTrade accounts -- are members of the Securities Investor Protection Corporation (SIPC). SIPC coverage protects customers up to $500,000, with $100,000 maximum for cash. An explanatory brochure is available at www.sipc.org. Additional excess SIPC coverage is also provided. This second level of protection covers securities over the SIPC limit, with a value of up to $25 million for each SIPC eligible account (with an aggregate of $100 million), and is from Lloyds of London. Both SIPC and the additional coverage provide protection in the event of a firm failure and do not insure against market decline.
Low $500 Minimum Account Size
Only $500 equity is required to open your PennTrade account. This initial deposit can be met with cash, equivalent securities or any combination of the two.
Free Trades
Complete 9 qualified trades, and the 10th one is free. Use earned free trade credits whenever you want, in whichever account you want.
